I’m so f’n blessed.

I know he might get all “awhuuuuut” about it, but I want to just say something. That man in the Dorothy costume, Ulises Rueda, you may know him. Well, he’s just f’n brilliant! And it’s MY honor and privilege to share my life with such sweet delight. Look, having a baby in the way that we’re doing it can be, on some days, a spectacular shit-show of self doubt. I mean really, we’ve got to be crazy! Just plain cray cray making a baby without eggs or a uterus. But the Holy truth is I’m on an adventure with my best friend and I’m having the time of my life! If you could see me now, you’d see a stupid grin on my face from ear to ear. This man inspires me and reminds me every day with his big-hearted optimism and a good dose of slapstick, that everything we’re doing, the nights & weekends working on our business, the unchartered struggle to be dads, all of it, has a purpose.

I came home one day feeling like shit. It was the week we had learned that our 2nd embryo transfer had failed and that our 3rd attempt would cost us a steep 11K. I hugged him and the tears came. I said, “Pops, we need some good news around here.” Instinctively he begins shuffling across the kitchen floor in a dorky dance and picking up a small box off the floor with candles he says, “We have a kick-ass marketing package we’re about to mail to 100 stores, that’s good news! We have those two cats staring at you waiting for you, that’s good news!”

He then pulls a bottle of wine out of his bag and waves it in the air, “I got us a ‘videooooo’, that’s good news!”
Then covering his eyes he says, “And don’t look now, but there’s something on your desk, I think it’s good news.”
Wouldn’t you know, dark chocolate bars

I’m so fucking blessed.
